Take a glimpse at the who, what, and why of EMpowered!
Achieving your goals is no easy task. It takes some serious commitment and focus. But you hold the power to make it happen and it’s all in the daily choices you make.
Your daily actions determine where you are headed, either towards your goals or away from them.
Choose wisely and know what you’re working for. Know the specific goal and WHY it matters to you. This is critical to push through obstacles (because opposition will come - it’s inevitable). You will need that WHY to keep you moving forward.
If you tap into your own passion and motivation, to where you HAVE to achieve this and need it as bad as you need oxygen, then you will have enough will power to succeed.
You can do anything you put our mind to. When you are truly committed, it’s not a matter of IF but a matter of WHEN. So keep pushing until you achieve your goals. It will be more than worth it.
We are all ATHLETES.
We have incredible potential and power within us to achieve greatness. It’s up to us to train like an athlete - to focus, to consistently work hard toward our goals, to challenge ourselves and push the limits, to access that inner & outer strength. We must train our bodies and minds to believe that anything is possible for our lives.
Make April your training season. What are we training for? LIFE.
Traveling can often throw off your healthy routine and disrupt your exercise schedule. But instead of making excuses and skipping your workouts, see it as an opportunity to find new and creative ways to make it happen!
Yesterday, I hiked up Runyon Canyon in L.A. and loved the new adventure! The outdoors, the sunshine, the steep incline and countless steps (nature’s ultimate stair master), and the reward of the gorgeous view made it an awesome and memorable workout. Plus, my Vibrams got the off road experience!! They have been living a sheltered gym life and the dirt path was a nice change for my feet :)
Next time you travel, look for ways to combine your sightseeing with your exercise. It makes the workout even more enjoyable and you feel energized for your trip!
Personal training can change lives. I’ve seen it. You start exercising, get stronger, have more energy, are healthier, and develop the confidence to be your true self. It ripples out to other areas of your life as well, believing that if you can reach your health and fitness goals, what OTHER goals and dreams could you achieve?!
At the core of Empowered by Em is a love of educating and inspiring others to be their best - teaching the proper form of exercises, healthy nutritional habits, and instilling the belief that you can conquer anything you put your mind to.
But what if personal training could do more than that? What if it could have an even GREATER impact on the world?
Well, it can. :)
Since Empowered by Em was founded in September 2010, we have committed to donating 10% of every training session to girl empowerment organizations (such as CARE and One Girl). We help to change your life through health and fitness, and you help to change the life of a girl around the world by giving her an education.
Your one hour of exercise has the power to change lives exponentially.
And this brings me to some exciting news!! I am THRILLED to announce that we have named the NYC based nonprofit organization She’s the First as the official recipient of our 10%, proudly supporting girls’ education in the developing world!
[Pictured from left to right: Tammy Tibbetts, Stella Dronyi, Emily Cook Harris (me) and Christen Brandt. Who knew writing a check could be so fun?! This first donation is sponsoring a girl’s education in northern Tanzania through AfricAid’s Kisa Project. Stay tuned for more details on the program and to meet our scholar!]
I believe in She’s the First wholeheartedly and I am so excited to support them, helping to empower young girls with the knowledge and resources to change their lives.
Writing this check was a real dream come true for me. I trust that with the inspiring women of She’s the First and the fierce exercisers of Empowered by Em, together we can make many more girls’ dreams come true. :)
